IEEE Draft Human Factors Engineering Guide for the Validation of System Designs and Integrated Systems Operations at Nuclear Facilities

Summary

New IEEE Standard - Superseded - Draft.
This document provides guidance to prepare, plan, and conduct human factors performance-based validation of a component, sub-system, or system prior to its placement in service, to assess reasonable confidence of compliance with functional and operational requirements.

This document provides human factors engineering guidance for the validation of the system interface design and the integrated systems operation. This guidance provides acceptable means to:
1) Identify performance criteria
2) Collect sufficient evidence of performance
3) Plan and conduct validation tests,
4) Analyze and resolve validation results.
The project will provide guidance to be used by nuclear facility designers, applicants, licensees, architect/engineers and regulators to assure reasonable confidence that the integrated system can be safely operated by personnel during a representative set of operating conditions that could be encountered during the facility's operation.
