IEEE International Draft Standard for Software and systems engineering -- Software testing -- Part 8: Model-based Testing

Summary

New IEEE Standard - Active - Draft.

This standard provides requirements and guidelines on applying model-based testing (MBT) to software testing consistent with the processes defined in the ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119 series of standards. This standard addresses the following areas:
a) Definitions for MBT
b) Mapping of the MBT tasks to ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119-2
c) How the processes in ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119-2 are extended for MBT
d) Measures to be collected for the MBT tasks
In MBT, the generation and execution of testware are automated.
The MBT generation algorithm implementation is tool-dependent and, therefore, is out of the scope. The MBT tool selection is also out of the scope.
The purpose of ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119 (all parts) is to define an internationally agreed to set of standards for software testing that can be used by any organization when performing any form of software testing by using models. This part of the series of standards facilitates understanding on how ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119 (all parts) applies to testing systems containing one or more modelled components.
