Extensions to the Virtual Station Interface (VSI) Discovery and Configuration Protocol (VDP) to support using the protocol between an end station and a device doing encapsulation/decapsulation for Network Virtualization Overlays Over Layer 3 (NVO3) are specified in this amendment to IEEE Std 802.1Q-2018. The extensions include adding format types [e.g., Internet Protocol (IP) addresses] and enhancing indication of migration events.
This standard specifies Bridges that interconnect individual LANs, each supporting the IEEE 802 MAC Service using a different or identical media access control method, to provide Bridged Networks and VLANs.This standard specifies extensions to VDP to support using the protocol between an end station and a device doing encapsulation/decapsulation for NVO3. The extensions will include adding format types that include Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and enhancing indication of migration events.
Bridges, as specified by this standard, allow the compatible interconnection of information technology equipment attached to separate individual LANs.
