This document presents procedures and test voltage values for acceptance and maintenance testing of ESP cable systems. It applies to cable systems rated 3000 V and 5000 V. It is intended to apply only to this special purpose cable.

The purpose of this recommended practice is as follows:
(1) To provide uniform procedures for performing high-voltage acceptance tests and maintenance tests on electric submersible pump cables in the field,
(2) To provide guidelines for evaluation of the test results,
(3) To define terms that have a specific meaning in the guide.
